Starting at the Christkindl Pilgrimage Church you set out on a guided pilgrimage following in the footsteps of Ferdinand Sertl whose recovery from a serious illness led to the foundation of Christikindl. The first stop is at Garsten (walking time approx. 1 h) where Anselm Angerer, builder of the Christkindl Church, was the abbot of the Benedictine Monastery. Just listen to the powerful sounds of the new organ playing in the former monastery church!
Then walk along the Enns River to the Parish Church in Steyr, where Ferdinand Sertl held the position of “Stadtkapellmeister”: He was also caretaker of the fire house right next to the Parish Church tower (walking time approx. 50 min). Prayers in the Parish Church, accompanied by music.
The last leg of the pilgrimage leads back to Christkindl where Ferdinand Sertl was healed of epilepsy after many hours of patient praying (walking time approx. 30 min). A short concert in the Christkindl Pilgrimage Church presented by Veronika and Andreas Kelcher concludes the pilgrimage.
